Your calls stay on your Mac.
Kiku has no account, no server and no analytics. Here is everything it keeps, and the only two things it asks the internet for.
What Kiku hears
Only the calls you say yes to: your microphone and the sound your Mac plays, from the moment you click Take notes until the call ends or you stop it. The models run on your Mac: the audio is never sent anywhere.
What it keeps, on your Mac
The notes and the transcript of each call, until you delete them. The recording itself is deleted once the notes are written, unless you turn on Keep recordings. To recognise voices, Kiku keeps a voice print for each person you name: numbers that describe a voice, not a recording, and you can make it forget anyone. All of it in ~/Library/Application Support/Kiku, readable only by you.
When it goes online
Twice. Once to download its models, the first time you open it. And a few times a day to ask kiku.sh whether there is a new version, a request that carries nothing about you or your calls; turn off Update Automatically and it stops.
What it never does
No bot in your call, no account, no analytics, no crash reports sent anywhere. Nothing you say, and nothing anyone says to you, is ever uploaded.
The others on the call
Kiku shows nothing on their side. Tell them you're taking notes, and ask first where the law wants everyone's consent to a recording.
